Overview:
During this presentation, Dr. Grace Hennessy, Chief of Addiction Psychiatry Division of Medicine, Psychiatry, and Nursing at OASAS, along with OASAS Associate Commissioner Rabiah Gaynor and her team, will review the following:
• Definition of co-occurring disorders
• Prevalence of co-occurring disorders in the general and criminal justice populations
• The symptoms of the major psychiatric disorders, and how substance intoxication as well as withdrawal from commonly used substances can mimic symptoms of these disorders
• When to refer individuals for mental health treatment, and
• Resources available for providers and approaches to improving continuity of care.
A score of 70% or higher is needed to pass this exam.
